Choose only one option, set your timer, turn off all distractions, and get to organizing!
Option 1: Organize your Toys
Where do you need to address some of the toys in your life? (Yours OR your kids???)
- Rather you need to address your hobby area or a kid’s toy area – today is the day!
- Just like any other area of your home, Less IS More!
- Choose an area that you can easily get through in 15 minutes.
- Go through everything, discard things that are unused or that no longer hold a value.
- Try rotating toys for kids, keep only a selection of items available, then rotate on a weekly or monthly basis.
- Minimize toys that have lots of pieces. 🙂
- Be realistic about you own hobbies or toys, are you really still using these items? (For example, do you still have boxes of scrapbook materials, but haven’t actually done any scrapbooking in the last five years?)
Option 2: Organize your Fridge
This is not a complete organization of the fridge, this is only a 10-15 minute quick blitz!
- Discard anything that is outdated or that you are never going to eat.
- Group like items together, try to wipe and clean a bit as you go.
- Condense and combine items to maximize space.
- Add any items that need to be replenished to your shopping list.
- Plan a dinner menu with any items that are close to expiring.
- This is a mini project that you should try to do every time you bring home groceries, if you do it regularly it will only take you about 5 minutes.
Option 3: Organize your Games
First and foremost, designate one spot for all of your game related items and/or consider having kids games and adult games organized in two different spots. I am referring specifically to board and card games, nothing electronic.
- Grab all of your games and clean up the sets.
- Discard broken pieces and games that are missing too many parts.
- Giveaway or donate games that you and your family no longer actually play.
- Use rubber bands and Ziploc bags to help control all the small pieces.
- Clean the storage area where the games are stored and re-organize the games back to their home.
- Consider adding a “Family Game Night” once a week! 🙂
Important Reminders:
- Be realistic and do not take on more than what you will be able to finish within 10-15 minutes per day.
- The goal is to do one project to 100% completion each day.
- Feel free to mix and match from day-to-day based on what your specific needs are and what you have the motivation to work on!
