Choose only one option, set your timer, turn off all distractions, and get to organizing!
Option 1: Organize your Bags
Specifically we’re going to focus on our mid-sized bags – not purses or large pieces of luggage. (We’re saving purses/wallets for the end of the challenge.)
- Pull out all of the mid-sized bags in your home – like gym bags, grocery store sacks, backpacks, beach bags, etc.
- Do an honest assessment of what you have and if you really need all of your bags.
- Recycle or toss any that need to go, and consider donating any bags that are no longer being used or meeting your needs.
- Ask yourself – are there bags that you need to replace? Make a note if so.
- Consider storing the bags in the places that make the most practical sense. (Gym bags in your closet for easy packing, backpacks by the front door, grocery sacks in the car…)
- A great option for storing bags is to use a coat rack, you can store a lot of bags on a coat rack and also have good visibility of all the bags.
- I also recommend picking up a small bag that you can fold up and fit in your purse for those times when you swing by Target, to buy just few things, (ha!). A reusable bag kept in your purse will cut down on the need for plastic sacks.
Option 2: Organize your Remote Controls
- Grab ALL of your remotes (and the computer mouse for that matter) and clean them – gasp – they usually get really dirty! (If you already do this on a cleaning rotation, you get a huge gold star from moi!)
- Check if you need to replace batteries and do so. Do you need to keep a certain size of battery on hand? Is your battery stash well stocked?
- Are there some loner remotes that need to be recycled or tossed? (You know what to do!)
- Where do you store your remotes? Do you have a designated place? Consider using a basket, box, or a drawer. (That way you won’t be having to dig through couch cushions to find them when you need them.)
Option 3: Organize your Coats
It’s a great time to take a peek into your coat closet and see where you might have some “holes.” Or on the flip side, see if you have some coats that you haven’t worn in forever (and not just because it’s been spring/summer).
Gather up any coats that need to go and put the bag in your car for when you make your next donation drop off. If you do have a coat “need” of some kind, make a point to start looking for the perfect new addition to your coat closet or even wait until the end of the season when they go on major sale.
Important Reminders:
- Be realistic and do not take on more than what you will be able to finish within 10-15 minutes per day.
- The goal is to do one project to 100% completion each day.
- Feel free to mix and match from day-to-day based on what your specific needs are and what you have the motivation to work on!
