We’ve had 15″ of snow dump on us! It’s beautiful and has also meant an early start to our Thanksgiving break, yay! And now my house has a trail of snow boots, pants, hats, and gloves spread everywhere and I love it, mostly. 🙂

Winter Faves – Top Ten
No. 1: Tim Ferris – 4-Hour Workweek
OK, the funny thing is that I’ve actually picked this book up a time or two before, but never committed to actually reading it. Well, I finally did. Here’s the deal, I don’t totally relate to Tim. He’s a bit of an adventurer, seems to be mostly on the go, and is doing some pretty “out of the box” types of things. What I did relate to, was his work smarter not harder mentality. He truly is a great resource if you want to look at how to maximize your time and how to live more intentionally. I think most of his tips apply more to business, but you could easily apply many of them to your home management too. It is an interesting read and I can see now why it’s so popular.
No. 2: Hello Fresh
Jessica Alba you had me at – dinner is planned, shopped, and prepped for you! (Well, actually it was the coupon code that sounded too good to be true.) I decided to sign up and have to admit that I’m kind of hooked.
First, the fact that it arrives all prepared and ready to go is huge! It takes several steps out of the equation. Secondly, the meals were more than I expected, they were really good! There were sauces and ingredients like apricots and poblano peppers, things that I’ve not cooked with before. Thirdly, my family liked them too, which is always a win. I plan to keep using it here and there within the mix of my regular menu planning. With my schedule and my family’s schedule, the more we can simplify some of the steps is a huge help!
Also, the packaging is all recyclable which is important. And I like the fact that you don’t have food waste because you are using the amounts they send you and not having leftovers of things you may or may not use again. (Please note, I have no affiliation with Hello Fresh, but after using it I am happy to endorse it.)
No. 3: Grocery Pick Up
Am I slow to the game? Yes! But I’m SO glad that I finally showed up! Talk about a time saver. If you have grocery pick up available in your area (I don’t have to pay for it, if I order a minimum amount) you should try it! It’s a gift. You just pull up and they bring your groceries to your car.
No. 4: Microwave Cover
You know what I’m NOT good at? Cleaning the microwave. It’s one of those tasks that I prefer to completely ignore. Thankfully, my husband doesn’t ignore it, but I knew he’d appreciate that I found this microwave cover. It’s made by SALT and I found it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond (don’t forget your coupon). You just set it on your plate in the microwave and viola – less splatter everywhere!
No. 5: Floss
A while back on Instagram, I shared that I’m really into flossing. It’s one of my quirks. I really like flossing. In fact, I’ve been told that I’m a really loud flosser. I’m not so sure about this, but I am sure that I love this new floss made by the brand Hello (not to be confused with Hello Fresh). My sweet son surprised me with a little gift bag and he put this in there. (He knows my love of flossing.) Why do I like it? It’s got a nice thickness and the peppermint flavor is very refreshing.
No. 6: Straws
So, I love drinking water with a straw because it helps me to drink more water. Therefore, when I recently spotted these rainbow straws at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, I had to get them. They are pretty and practical too!
No. 7: Diffuser
It seems that I’m also slow to the game in the world of diffusing. Recently, I picked one up made by Better Homes and Gardens and when we put up our tree in a few days, I plan to switch to holiday scents for the rest of the year. One way to help with building traditions and memories, is to tap into the sense of smell. So, I love that the diffuser will do just that!
No. 8: Dancing with the Stars
Well, the season just wrapped and it was a good one. I always look forward to Monday nights and watching the dancing journey of each of the participants. It also helps me to get my laundry folded! Do you watch? My kids think I’m too into it but I don’t care. I’m a dancer wannabe…
No. 9: Talented Kitchen
Labels are a must have (in my opinion), especially if you want things to stay more organized. A company I highly recommend is Talented Kitchen. They have a large assortment of labels all available on Amazon. I recently did a refresh on my own spices which you can also see on Instagram. I love these labels!
No. 10: Echo Dot
We bought one for our home office and I play Amazon playlists on repeat, mostly songs by Tim McGraw. I’m not a big music person, but I love being able to tell Alex what to do – ha! I’ve also learned lately that you can set up Alexa to turn on the lights in your home. I’ve yet to figure out this piece, but pretty cool! It’s really more of a toy but a great way to add some music to a room or space.
As always, thank you for following along, reading, and listening. Remember, seek intentionality, each and every day. My encouragement as we move into “shopping season” is to shop with a plan! Be strategic, shop with a list AND a budget. It can make ALL the difference. #lessismore
Happy Organizing!
