Happy April! This month I’m excited to announce that several of my friends/authors are launching books! Make sure to head over to my Instagram to see more. There are some beautiful new reads that you are definitely going to want to add to your summer reading list. (And I’m giving away a copy of one of them!) Yay!
Today, I want to highlight a book written by Blythe Daniel and her mom, Dr. Helen McIntosh. It is called Mended: Restoring the Hearts of Mothers and Daughters. As a mother daughter duo, Blythe and Helen delicately teach you how to navigate your mother daughter relationship(s). The tools they provide will help you in your relationship with either your daughter, your mother, or with both!
Relationships are tricky. I love how Blythe and Helen share some of their own truths that they have walked through and also how they have learned to be close (and good friends) over the years.
I personally had a lot of great takeaways, especially with getting ready to launch my first one off to college in the fall. (Soooo bittersweet.) Knowing that my season of parenting is shifting, I want to do my best to remain close and maintain a strong relationship with my daughter. My hope is to be able to take off my mom hat (as necessary) and develop a closer friend-to-friend relationship with her. Mended gave me some great new ideas and insights on how I can do this, and do it successfully.
If you have a difficult history with your mother or daughter, you don’t have to continue patterns of brokenness. No matter how worn you feel, you don’t have to become unthreaded. God wants to mend your heart to His and hers.
Set new patterns going forward as you…
- find common ground and put your relationship ahead of your differences
- learn what to say when you don’t know what to say
- grow closer when you do hard things together
This book would make a great book with Mother’s Day coming up! Enter below to win a free copy.
