Happy (almost) Thanksgiving! I hope that as you celebrate the day, you will be able to find time to recharge and rest. I think that making a point to take some time to relax is one of the best parts of the holiday season!
If you are hosting this year, be sure to check out my post that I shared at Organizing Junkie last week. You can find it here: Organizing your Hospitality for the Holidays.
Also, I wanted to say a big “thank you” to everyone who completed the reader survey that I posted a few weeks ago. It’s so enlightening and helpful for me to read your responses. Here is a quick overview of the results!
2017 Reader Survey Results
(1) On a scale of 1-10 (where 1 is – “I do not have any clutter” and 10 is – “I have clutter everywhere”) how would you rate the amount of clutter in your home?
Well, 69% of you gave a rating of 6 or above. So…yes, clutter is a real thing. I see this weekly as I work with people to declutter their homes. I’ll continue to share with you very practical and simple ways to live with less, so that you can live MORE! Clutter is a challenge and it is usually something that happens slowly and over time, so don’t be discouraged if you are feeling overwhelmed. Decluttering your home is more of a marathon and less of a sprint!
(2) On a scale of 1-10, where 1 is never and 10 is always, how would you rate the effect that clutter and disorganization have on your ability to manage your time well?
This is why we want to lessen our clutter. Clutter equals less time for the things we want to actually be spending our time on. Over a fourth of the respondents, 27%, rated this question at a 10. Clutter is a time thief. Again, I’ll continue to support and encourage you on this topic. My desire is to help you have MORE time and less stress.
(3) If you had more time in your schedule, how would you spend the extra time?
There were a variety of answers but the top resounding themes were: decluttering, hobbies, and family.
(4) Which area(s) of home organization would you like to read more about on MWM?
In order of popularity:
- Storage Areas
- Living Areas
- Working Areas
- Sleeping Areas
- Cleaning Areas
I will work to specifically focus on these five areas and all that they encompass. This is so helpful for me to know what you most want help and tips on how to organize.
(5) Would you be interested in listening to a short, 15 minute podcast, on how to live your life more organized and solve the most common organizing dilemmas?
Almost 70% of you said yes. I’m on the fence about this idea but I’ve been kicking it around. After asking about this via the survey, I started thinking about it more and wondering if it might be better to start doing short (5 minute) videos on how to organize spaces instead? Would the visual piece be more helpful? I go back and forth and I need your help! Share with me in the comments! Or message me on Instagram. I was told last week that I have a great voice on the microphone when I teach my fitness classes, maybe a sign???
I love sharing organizing and more with you! Life is messy but by working to have less clutter (in all areas of our lives), we will have more time! Thank you again for your feedback, I am so grateful for all of you! xo
Happy Organizing & Happy Thanksgiving!
