Hey! I’m hoping you and yours are all recovered from that Monday holiday, so not fair. And that you are rocking and rolling as you head into November! (How is it already November?)
In other news, yesterday, the MWM 21-Day Fitness Challenge started! It’s not too late to join and honestly this is a great way to stay focused, especially as we go into the full-blown holiday season. Which I consider to be from Halloween to Easter…so many things to celebrate and so many treats!
Get MORE Organized for the Holidays!
Also, if you are new to MWM, or a long-time reader, I always like to highlight my free seasonal Organizing Challenges. These are a fabulous way to do a little re-start in the organization of your home. Each seasonal challenge is designed to only take two weeks (10 actual days) and the projects are ONLY 10 minutes per day. The challenge is created around my philosophy, that you don’t have to spend hours organizing! A few minutes (or 10) a day, can make a REAL difference. #keepitsimplesister
The Winter OC starts Monday (link will go live Nov 7th) and you can access everything HERE. Also, I’ll be posting on the MWM facebook page the daily challenges as well. Or, you can even go back and do the Fall OC, choices baby, choices. Below is a sample of a daily OC, so you can see what it’s all about!
Happy Organizing!
Daily OC
Choose only one option, set your timer, turn off all distractions, and get to organizing!
Option 1: Organize {1} Closet
Not necessarily the entire closet, maybe just a section – it will just depend on the size of the closet that you choose!
- Choose a section that you can easily work through in 10-15 minutes.
- Evaluate each piece of clothing and be realistic about rather or not you need/want/love each piece of clothing.
- If something has been in your closet for more than a year and you haven’t worn it once, be even more discerning.
- Consider turning your hangers around in the section that you organize and check back in six months to see which hangers are still turned around – in other words the items you are not grabbing to wear!
- If a piece has nothing to go with it, start a list for the items you need to shop for in order to help complete an outfit.
- Any items that you are going to donate, place in a bag and place in your car so you are ready for that drop off!
- Do you have a pile that you are a bit unsure about??? Place in a holding bag in your closet and check back in three months to see which of the items are still in there.
Option 2: Organize your Shoes
Shoe purge time! We’re moving away from the flip-flops, to wearing our rain boots again!
- Go through ALL of your shoes. (Separate the “keep” from the “donate.”)
- Store all shoes that are more fall/winter together in an organized fashion.
- Store all shoes that are more spring/summer together in an organized fashion.
- Make a list of any shoe needs you have for the winter season and add to your shopping list.
- Place any donations in your car, so they are ready for the drop off!
Option 3: Organize – Entertaining Dishes
Whether or not you host or entertain much, it’s important to do an inventory of the “Entertaining Dishes” you are keeping (and storing). Often we’ll hold on to things because of “someday.”
If you find yourself not using some, or much, of your nicer pieces, consider if you should really be keeping them. Remember keeping things means maintaining, cleaning, and organizing them too! Even if you are not using something, it still takes up space, both physically and mentally.
Do a quick once over and be honest with yourself. Or maybe, start using more of your “good” stuff for everyday. Happy celebrating!
Important Reminders:
- Be realistic and do not take on more than what you will be able to finish within 10-15 minutes per day.
- The goal is to do one project to 100% completion each day.
- Feel free to mix and match from day-to-day based on what your specific needs are and what you have the motivation to work on!
