So, I’ve been avoiding this topic.
Our move.
Moving is hard.
If you are new to these parts, our family has been living overseas for over three years (in Portugal) and this summer we are returning to the USA. A new state, home, and adventure awaits!
No matter what kind of move it is, moving in general is just plain hard. Moving takes time, energy, planning, organization, and more time. And the hardest part? You are usually living regular life while also working through all of the details surrounding your move.
From Birthday parties to dentist appointments, field trips to book reports, grocery shopping to paying bills, date nights to carpool shifts.
While I could easily write a checklist on how to organize a move, I think it’s a better idea to share a daily planning tool that can be used every day.
Because moving is temporary and living is permanent.
I’ve been using this daily tool for years and it’s how I’ve been able to stay focused not only in my daily life, but also with this large international move that is smack dab in front of me.
This “Daily (Hourly) Schedule” is part of the MWM Health + Home Management Planner and it is a must have! And today I’m giving it to you – my organizing peeps with a big organizing hug.
This simple piece of paper allows you to time block out each day of the week into hourly sections. By having an hourly map of your day it allows you to more intentionally plan your weeks. Pencil (or pen) in everything! Hour by hour. Every.single.thing. And also allow lots of healthy margin. Read that last sentence again.
If you don’t allow for enough white space, or margin, you’ll find your daily (hourly) schedule is unattainable. Be discerning and realistic around how you plan your days and then do your best to stick to your schedule. Your margins should provide the required flexibility that is always a reality of day-to-day living.
Like me last night sitting waiting for my tiny track star for over an hour in the McDonald’s parking lot. Thankfully I had my kindle app on my phone and could catch up on some reading! And thankfully my hubby was home packing the lunches for the next day and cleaning up the kitchen.

Organization and planning really matter the most in your every day. If you don’t work at it every day, you can easily find yourself playing catch up and spinning in circles, simply because you don’t know where to start.
So my tip of the day is to stop spinning and start planning. Schedule your daily (hourly) schedule and then keep list(s) in place with what you need to do each day, week, and month.
The more you plan the better you’ll avoid the spin!
Even though I don’t feel like I have time to move, I do have the time.
It’s what we do with our time.
Happy Organizing!
