Howdy! Spring is in the air! My kiddos have a two-week Spring Break starting this Friday. We’re all looking forward to some down time and a little travel too. The photo below was a dinner selfie snapped in Pisa, Italy last summer, what a great memory! (And yes we were having pizza.)
I hope you are surviving the “spring forward” (I’m a bigger fan of “fall back”) and making some great memories one way or another. Speaking of memories, I’ve been wanting to update my “Managing Memories” series for a while now, as memories (photos, kids’ stuff, home videos, memorabilia etc.) are all something you and I are required to organize in one form or another.
REQUIRED is a strong word, but in reality we typically want to know where to find the memories when we want to reminisce about them.
And with the convenience and availability of snapping pictures digitally, whenever and wherever, memory and photo organization has got me feeling like this…
Isn’t she cute. I can’t begin to tell you how much I love having a dog, I mean another child. 🙂 Olivia is so much fun and the most loyal thing ever. She completely has me wrapped around her finger, or dog paw, whatever you want to call it.
OK, moving on.
You might think that people who have a little bit of O.O. (Organization Obsession) might have ALL of their memories neatly and perfectly organized. Well, as an active member of the O.O. club I can attest that I too struggle in this area. In fact this is what I’m currently avoiding trying to address…
I have TWO boxes filled with negatives and random photos – I’m sure my kids would be like, “What are negatives mom?” And I’m also asking myself, WHY do I still have all of these negatives?
And why do I have a second box filled to the brim with random pictures dating back to my good old sorority days?!?
I do have an action plan with these two boxes and I’m planning to get through them by the end of this week. Pinky promise. I’ll post to Facebook and Instagram when I get it done, Friday is the goal! (I need some accountability too.)
My plan is most likely to recycle about 60-70% of everything. Then with the photos that I want to keep, I’m going to organize them by date (yearly) in a small photo box that I can simply add to my organized Hope Chest. Then I’ll recycle the LARGE plastic bins that I’ve been hauling around for years! It’s going to feel soooo good.
Now whether or not you fall into the O.O. club I’ve got some great tips and tricks that I have (successfully) used in managing and organizing (all) the memories. Memories are important and it’s nice to know where to find them when you want to reminisce. You can see my updated (Managing Memories) posts below and I challenge you to tackle one area of memory organization by April 1st! You can do it! (I’m telling myself this too.)
