So much to chat about today! Are you ready? Ok first up, I want to remind you that you can start your family reminders this month! If you haven’t printed off the free printable, go do so today. Let’s put those kids to work! We started yesterday and I love all the eye-rolling, I’m kidding, not.
Then…if you need a little monthly motivation you’ll want to check out the February Monthly Challenge! Every month you can pop in and find some direction on how to live more intentionally in the areas of health and home. And, as if that wasn’t enough catching up, the Spring OC starts Monday! I shared ALL about it last week and you can also see the specific Spring OC page to start planning your projects now! The OC is a win-win. It’s easy, doable, and it really does make a difference. Organizing does not need to be complicated and that is exactly what the OC confirms.
Speaking of organizing (as if I would talk about anything else), I’ve got some great tips for you today and also a giveaway!
Five Clutter-Control Tips
#1 – Clear your Tables
Flat surfaces ask for clutter – all.the.time. They want it and they seek it out. So…you have to get in front of that surface attraction and put containers (baskets, bins, boxes) to hold the things that gravitate towards all of those smooth surfaces.
#2 – Clear your Shelves
Shelves that are stacked and packed, end up creating lots of visual chaos. Purge items that don’t belong and look for ways to create interest within your shelves. Think less is more and visual serenity.
#3 – Clear your Drawers
Just because things are put away, doesn’t mean that what’s in the drawer needs to stay that way. If you have drawers that are hard to close or that are overflowing, do some inventory control. Drawers should be clutter free too!
#4 – Clear your Counters
Are you sensing a theme? I’m guilty of having over crowded counters, so I’m reminding myself of this one today. Keep your counters clutter free. The more you store things, the more organized your space will look and feel. This one is a quick fix!
#5 – Clear your “Hot Spots”
Lastly, contain clutter by addressing the other “hot spots” in your home. The other places besides your tables, counters, drawers, and counters. Look around, where does clutter build up? Notice where clutter tends to collect and then put simple systems in place that can easily catch those collections.
Clutter is a real challenge! I hope that you take these tips and look for ways to clear some of the clutter that is creating chaos in your home. Clutter is not a benefit, the more you streamline and clear, the more time and energy you’ll have for the important things in life.
Recently I read The Fringe Hours: Making Time for You, by Jessica Turner. This book helped me to look at my time and scheduling from a new perspective. This book opened my eyes to the fact that I do have lots of time available to me, yet tend to mismanage. While this book has more to do with taking time to focus on your own dreams and desires than clutter, I think the two go hand in hand. The more clutter we have the less time we have. I hope that you can clear some clutter this week and find even more peace.
Now…because it’s the month of love, and just because, I’m giving away a copy of The Fringe Hours to one of you!
Anyone may enter, I’ll email the winner in one week with the option of a hardback or kindle copy!
