I hope you’ll have some down time over the holidays to curl up with a good book! If so, I wanted to share some of my favorites with you that I read over the past year. Here are my “Top Ten Books – 2015!”
Top Ten Books – 2015
As part of my goals for 2015, I set up a Reading Challenge on Goodreads. It’s a fun way for me to get more reading done. Even though I’ve always loved to read, over the past three years I’ve rediscovered my love for reading. Today I’m listing my Top Ten Books – 2015 for you. It’s a variety of books, so you might find one that interests you. Or maybe even one you could buy as a gift for someone? Each book is linked to Amazon if you want to read reviews, learn more about the book(s), or even purchase. Let’s start with number 10 and work our way to number one!
#10 – “Keep It Shut”
OK. This is a good read that is convicting and also very life applicable. Watching what I say is always something I need to work on. I love Karen’s practical tips and examples, this book really made me think a lot more about my word choices and basically, when to keep it shut!
#9 – “Start Something That Matters”
I picked this one up before boarding a plane from New York back to Portugal. I was so glad that I did, because I accidentally left my i-Pad in my suitcase! I read it on the flight and really enjoyed Blake’s story. I knew very little of TOMS and the entrepreneurial side to me was so motivated after reading this great book. And now I need to buy a pair of TOMS, obviously.
#8 – “Unstoppable”
A friend told me about this book. SO good. I hadn’t heard about Christine Caine before, and now I hear about her all the time. I love how she talked about God’s hand in your life and that we all have batons to carry and pass on. It was a very good word that gave me more peace within my here and now. God is always at work!
#7 – “What Alice Forgot”
I love Liane Moriarty for pure entertainment reading! I’ve read most of her books now and this one is at the top for me. Probably because I could relate to Alice, being similar in age etc. It was a great read. I would also recommend “The Husband’s Secret” and “Big Little Lies.” Both are really good too.
#6 – “The Best Yes”
While I’ve mentioned this one before, I didn’t want to leave it off today. It’s just such a fantastic book. It’s a wonderful book that will really help you to evaluate your priorities and your commitments. Lysa’s writing is down to earth and practical. She also gives really good, scriptural advice. If you are feeling overwhelmed, this book will help you to feel more empowered to change that!
#5 – “The Art of Work”
Jeff is an awesome writer and this book will just fill you with inspiration. If you ever wonder why your path of life looks the way it does, this book will make you look at things in a whole new way! Very, very, motivating and encouraging book.
#4 – “After You”
If you loved “Me Before You,” I’m guessing you’ll love “After You” too. I really liked it and I loved that it was a sequel. Really great plot and reading it made me want to read the first book again. Worth reading, I promise!
#3 – “The Girl on the Train”
I probably don’t need to promote this book. It’s just plain good. It provides suspense and sort of kept me on the edge of my seat. Really good read.
#2 – “For The Love”
If you like to laugh this book will help! Jen Hatmaker rocks it in this book. I love here authenticity and grace filled approach to life. I might just need to move to Austin to go to her church and then try to get her to invite me over for some of here delicious cooking. I read this in one day, could.not.put.it.down.
#1 – “The Nightingale”
Again, you’ve probably heard of this one. Fantastic. I am NOT a history buff, at all. So I really enjoy reading about history in story form. This book helped me to see new parts to history and it also gave me so much empathy for the French people of that time. If you like Historical Fiction, you’ll love this!
So that’s a wrap for 2015 reading recommendations! If you have some down time this holiday season, which I hope you will. Find some time to just sit, relax, and maybe read a book? Or maybe take a nap? Or maybe take a walk? Just take time to “BE.” Remember the best gift is being “present!”
