Oh my, I have a lot to say. You may want to grab an extra cup, of whatever you fancy, and sit down for this one…I’m talking all about searching for my “sole” purpose today.
God is good, all the time and all the time, God is good.
I want to start by saying THANK YOU to my darling and dedicated readers. While I don’t know each and every one of you, the feedback, emails, and messages that I receive from you are so appreciated. This little site of mine is sort of “The Little Engine that Could.” I started MWM with no plan or purpose. I really didn’t know a thing about blogging. It was purely a hobby, if you want to call it that. But I’m so thankful for this little adventure and what it has done to help grow me, and how it has assisted me in defining my purpose in this current season of my life.
I, like many of you have my own personal struggles. Life is full of challenges, despite how things may look on the outside, there are real struggles. Because we’re all living “real” life. So, please know that even though I post a clean and tidy picture of my kitchen or I show a picture of me doing a push up, that my life is just as messy and imperfect as everyone else’s! I want to be real with you and keep showing you all sides of my life.
I know I’ve shared a little bit before here on MWM about my struggle in this season. My struggle to have “purpose.” I’m wired as a “doer.” Moving overseas changed the rhythm of my daily lifestyle in so many ways. I no longer had kids at home all day, I no longer had a part-time job (that I loved), and I was thrust into adapting to a new pace of life and culture.
Portugal, the location, hasn’t been my challenge, the moving away from all of my life activities and family/friends has been. It has left me asking (for over two years), “God, what is your plan for me in this season? What is your purpose for me here and now?”
Well…recently I attended our Women’s Retreat through our International Church that we attend and it was SUCH a blessing. I went into the weekend hoping to enjoy some down-time, spend some quality time with God, and to experience some beautiful fellowship. Well it was a three for three. It took me almost a week to recover. It was an emotional, spiritual, and relational filled weekend.
“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.”
Psalm 37:23-24 (NLT)
This was our theme verse for the weekend. The focus of the retreat was to look at “What is my SOLE purpose” – asking God to “Direct my Steps”. I was actually one of the speakers for the retreat, and while I was preparing for my presentation, I was able to reflect on how God HAS helped me to define my purpose here in PT.
While I am not able to instruct and teach Fitness Classes here, in a traditional Health Club setting, I am able to teach a weekly Yoga class from my home. I have also been blessed with amazing Personal Training clients here and afar. And I’ve been able to use MWM to help clients virtually with their organizing and training, while also working on my writing and networking skills. So, now as a small business owner, many of my dreams have been realized.
I am inspired, encouraged, and I look forward to what else God has in store for me, while here, and when we return to the States.
To wrap up all of my ramblings, into a pretty little bow, I want to let you know about a few blog business items…as part of continuing to define my SOLE purpose and to do my best to “Keep It Simple Sisters”:
- I am going to be posting on MWM only about twice a week.
- Easy recipes will still be updated every Friday as well, and are located on the Easy Recipe Page.
- MWM will continue to focus on all things Health (wellness) and Home (organization) – with the overriding focus on Intentional Living.
- And…if you are not a subscriber to MWM you should sign up today!!! (This is a hint, hint – I’ve got some changes I’m working on and you’ll want to be in the know.)
