Monthly Organizing Challenge {No.4}
Now that you are working through your black Friday shopping or making some Thanksgiving leftovers, it’s a great time to take on a doable Monthly Organizing Challenge.
We’re going to work on organizing our computers throughout the month of December. Go ahead, grab your calendar, set aside some time to organize, and get after it! OR if you want to do a different monthly themed project – see the other Monthly OC’s and pick from one of those!
Action Items:
- Take an assessment of your computer, start with your desktop and then move onto applications, folders, email, bookmarks…
- Make a list of the areas that you need to organize. (These will look differently for each of us.)
- Rank your list from small to big.
- Start with the smallest items on your list first.
- Try to dedicate a little time each day or decide to put on a Christmas movie and sit and organize away.
- If you hit some roadblocks along the way create a file titled “To Organize” and move those items there. Don’t let bigger projects weigh you down.
Ongoing Computer Organization Tips:
- Keep a clean desktop, minimize what you save and store there.
- File things right away.
- Create like titles so there is consistency and organization among your documents and files.
- Delete often and work to streamline what you save.
- Ensure that you have an active back up system for your computer.
- Communicate to other family members how to save and organize files on the computer for consistency.
*KISS – Take the time to organize your computer and you’ll increase your efficiency when you use your computer.
I’ll be back with a full report at the end of December and share what I did in regards to my own computer organizing, and trust me, I have a lot of work to do. I’m super guilty of not organizing my computer well and of deleting way to infrequently. I’m excited to change things and to increase my own efficiency!
Happy Organizing & Happy almost December!
