I just recently finished my CEC (continuing education credit) studies to maintain my Fitness Certifications. I can honestly say that I really learned a lot (and that I’m really thankful the tests are now behind me – and that I passed).
Just checking off those yearly goals.
One of the topics that really intrigued me in my studies, was the topic of Wellness and Health Prevention. Specifically how the daily choices we make can really add up to either positive or negative results. I don’t know about you but I desire to be on the positive side of the wellness continuum and to have a zest for life!
A commitment I have made to myself over the last few years is to take better care of my skin. (Sort of wish I would have started this one years ago…) First off for selfish reasons – to minimize my aging skin, sigh. Secondly – to reduce my chances of getting skin cancer.
So today my FAB FAVES focus on all things skin care!
(For all previous Friday Fab Faves – GO HERE.)
Face Care
As much as I would love to get a monthly facial at a spa, that’s just not part of my personal budget. Instead, I have chosen to look for at home options that mirror some of the treatments you can find in a spa. Additionally, I try to take care of my face both morning and night, with a variety of products. Here are some of my tried and true.
Neutrogena Eye Cream – I’ve had this for years…probably don’t use it enough, but love that it is light weight and is intended just for the sensitive eye area.
This Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream is the bomb! It just makes your face happy and is a very rich cream. A little goes a long way.
I bought this for myself for Christmas last year and really like it. #merrychristmastome (And it’s a fraction of the cost of other similar products.) I use this almost weekly to get that deep clean.
Currently I am using these two L’Oreal products. I love that the Day Cream provides SPF and is a fantastic moisturizer. The Night Cream is awesome too and makes my face feel very cared for at the end of a long day.
Being the budget conscious momma that I am, I used a Birthday Gift Card to purchase these. Oh my! This “peel” is a great way to do a little at home spa treatment. Afterwards my face feels so refreshed and I have had no problems with burning etc.
Even though I’m currently using the L’Oreal face lotions my other FAVE is the Olay Complete Face Lotion which I have used for YEARS. It is my #1 go to beauty product. (I shared about this over with Alison.)
I have been using St. Ives since my High School days. I love the exfoliation that the Apricot Scrub provides and I usually keep one in the shower at all times. I used to use a great creamy face wash of St. Ives (I don’t think they make it anymore). I loved how it was also a great eye make up remover. I’m a fan for anything that does two things at once!
Currently I’m using this face wash daily. I like it, but not as much as the St. Ives wash that I used to use. It does work well and I like how clean it makes my skin feel.
Sunscreen
All sunscreen is not created equal. It’s important to find a brand that is one you like to use, that way you WILL use it. (And you should use it daily and year round.) Even on your face and even if your daily moisturizer has SPF already in it.
If you are going to be outside for any length of time you need to add SPF, especially to your face, the back of your hands, and arms. (That is my mini-lecture for you!) 🙂
Neutrogena does it again with their sunscreen facial options. I personally like a lighter weight facial sunscreen that doesn’t feel too greasy, and these two are great options!
I am not a huge fan of the spray sunscreen, because it seems to sometimes not spray very evenly which causes some uneven tanning or shall we say burning? BUT with kids it can be a big life saver, so I always keep a little spray on hand!
This is my go to for overall body application. A minimum of 30 SPF, if not higher.
I KNOW we just set the clocks back and that sunscreen isn’t on the fore front of our minds anymore. But it still should be! Especially if you will be in the outdoors much over the holidays. Plan to keep a facial sunscreen in your purse or glove box, that way if you end up at the ski slope or at a football game, you are better able to protect your skin.
TELL ME: What is your #1 go to Facial Product? And why?
Thank you for joining with me as I talked about all things skin, now go and enjoy your weekend and make sure to have that zest for life!
Hoping you have a FABULOUS weekend!!!
