*KISS – Invest in quality neutral pieces to build a solid foundation in your wardrobe.
As we think about maximizing our wardrobes in a minimizing way, it’s so important to use the “Less IS More” approach.
My number one (self-experienced) tip is to start with a solid foundation in your closet of quality neutral pieces. Specifically, the pieces of clothing that are neutral colors – black, white, grey, brown and navy. Find clothing items in these colors (tops and bottoms) and ensure that they are well-fitting, made of quality (long-lasting) fabrics, and that they are comfortable for you to wear. (If things aren’t comfortable you just don’t tend to wear them!)
The above picture was from a post I did last year, where I took seven items of clothing and created seven different outfits. By taking primarily neutral colored pieces of clothing I was able to put together seven classic looks.
When you’ve got a great neutral basic, all you need to do is layer it with a scarf or add some fun earrings and BAM you’ve got a fresh and stylish look!
