Once a month I’m taking you through our Beach House (or our current home) and I’m letting you see room by room how we live and use our spaces. (And hopefully how we organize them too!) This month I’m taking you into our precious first born’s room.
Here is Ainsley’s room….my sweet teenager. (I shared her previous room HERE, which was in our Yellow House, and I shared lots of my bedroom organizing tips on that post, and also in Berkley’s old room, HERE.)
I have to say I am really enjoying this fun “teen” season. My favorite memory of the past year has been the early morning car rides Ainsley and I share on the way to the swimming pool for her early morning practices. (I’m usually still in my PJs with a hot chai beside me.) The special part of these mornings is that we get to have one-on-one talk time, which is just priceless. I’m helping her try to navigate, with as much ease as possible, these middle school years. I love that we can have such real conversations and I cherish these times with her.
Now…here is her room. As she has gotten older she spends more time in her room. It’s her space and it’s all about the things that make her happy.
Her curtains, bed frame, bedding, and mirror are all from IKEA. Along with the silver bulletin boards. The blue velvet bulletin boards are ones I covered with left over fabric from the curtains. (Which I share all about over here.) A little DIY! #yesisew
Most of her other accessories are from TJ Maxx, Target or Michaels. This accessory holder above works perfectly for all of her jewelry and hair items. And you’ll note her laundry basket with the mesh bag.
In an effort to give her a little make up/hair station. we took a mirror and table and set her up for all things beauty! Don’t be afraid to mix and match furniture and to use things you already have. This table used to be our entryway table in our Yellow House. 🙂
I also got her some cork pads to use under her hair appliances, in order to help protect the table. Now she is all set to beautify and with a few containers she is able to keep things neat and tidy.
To say I am proud of Ainsley, doesn’t begin to express a thing. She is confident, mature, and a girl with such true character. I really hate seeing her grow up, but I love it all at the same time. Mainly because of exactly WHO she is. I am blessed.
Thanks for taking a peek into her room with me!
