I set goals at the beginning of this year and one of the goals was to train and run another 1/2 Marathon. I’ve done a total of four 1/2 Marathons in the last five years so it seemed like a good idea to add that to my goal list for 2014. As of a few weeks ago I hadn’t given this particular goal any more thought.
Here I am in good spirits before the 1/2 Marathon last fall. 🙂 And I shared here all about how the race went, A.K.A. the hottest race of my life. Not “hot” in a good way. And on a sad note I’m having to say goodbye to two of these ladies as they move back to the States. Such a bittersweet part of overseas life, you meet wonderful people, you bond quickly, and then you have to say goodbye WAY too soon.
So….after taking a long running break after last year’s 1/2 I realized that in all actuality this is a fantastic year for me to finally train for a full Marathon. I have always wanted to do one Marathon (just one) and I really do have the time in my schedule to dedicate towards this type of goal this year.
The Rock & Roll event takes place again this fall and there is a Marathon option. I literally will have to drive five minutes from my house to the starting line. I mean how easy is that? Well that will probably be the only easy part!
For training purposes I referred to this site Marathon Rookie and created my schedule for 18 weeks based off of their suggested 16 week schedule.
Two weeks down and many more to go!
I’m a happy highlighter and am predicting I will be getting very tan this summer with all of my outdoor runs. Outdoor runs that look a lot like this. Such beauty.
October 5th, here I come!
Hoping you have a FABULOUS weekend!
