#3 – Rest {Time Off}
“Most of the things we need to be most fully alive never come in busyness. They grow in rest.”
~ Mark Buchanan, The Holy Wild: Trusting in the Character of God
Do you take time to slow down and to truly rest? Do you have a day or two per week that are specifically dedicated towards a more relaxed pace?
As a family we have worked to make our Sundays our day of rest. A day to not have things scheduled, to not run errands, to just be together and to take time to relax. I can’t begin to tell you the difference this makes as we start our week. We are not as tired, stressed or overwhelmed, because our batteries have been re-charged. (Not to mention the time we have to be together as a family.)
My challenge to you is to make sure that you are taking some time each week to rest. It doesn’t have to be one full day it can be parts of a few days. The point is that you carve out the time. Time to invest in your hobbies, time to connect with others and time to let you body rest, both mentally and physically.
How do you make time for rest?
- Protect your calendar and avoid over scheduling.
- Plan activities into your scheduled rest time that will allow for you to recharge.
- Practice saying NO to things that will take away from your rest time!
KISS – Rest is essential to maintain a balanced life.
