#2 – Relationships {Make Time}
“You become like the five people that you spend the most time with. Choose carefully.”
According to a 2006 Duke University study, “Americans have a third fewer confidants for important topics than they did 20 years go, and nearly 25 percent have no one with whom to discuss these issues, possibly thanks, in part to a growing reliance on e-mail and texting.” (fitnessmagazine.com – June 2012)
We need others in our lives for support and encouragement. Our relationships can directly affect our health in both positive and negative ways. So while although technology makes it easier to connect with friends and family, it can also diminish the quality and closeness of these relationships. There is a place for simple texts and there is a place for long conversations, rather on the telephone or over a cup of coffee.
My challenge to you is to keep growing and improving your relationships To make time for the people in your life whom you want to have healthy relationships with. Show your loved ones that you aren’t just there, but that you are there. That they have your eye contact and your full attention. (This is a reminder to myself too.)
How do you make time for your relationships?
