Five weeks. Five posts. Five healthy habits.
#5 – Read {Good Books}
“We read books to find out who we are. What other people, real or imaginary, do and think and feel… is an essential guide to our understanding of what we ourselves are and may become.”
~ Ursula K. Le Guin
We’ve covered, Rehydration, Relationships, Resting and Refueling, and today’s fifth in the series goes to Reading!
This healthy habit is fresh on my mind because I actually was able to read three entire books over our spring break trip. It was such a treat! I loved being able to plow through the books and they were a big part of why I was able to relax and unwind on our (amazing race) vacation. (Be sure to check back tomorrow, I’ll be sharing some of my new favorite books.)
Three benefits to reading:
#1) Learning – You can glean so much from reading. Reading books keeps you in the front row of the classroom.
#2) Entertainment – There is nothing better than diving into a really good book. A book, that once you pick it up, you can barely put it down.
#3) Understanding – When you read, you also experience examples and stories that have the ability to open your eyes in new ways. Your views can be widened and possibly even challenged.
How do you make reading a habit?
- Plan time to read.
- Pick your books carefully, there are so many quality books out there, don’t settle!
- Pack your books with you at all times – you never know when you’ll have an extra few minutes to read a few pages.
KISS – Read good books!
