Nobody puts baby in the corner.
But we sure do put A LOT of pantries in the corner.
I laughed when some good friends texted me that they needed some “Morganizing.” These are two highly effective, and in my humble opinion, very organized people.
However we all have our little areas, don’t we? (In their defense they had moved into a new home and had never put a whole lot of time and planning into how they were going to use their corner pantry.) I stepped in and did a little investigating. Here is the…
BEFORE
What a great space and you should see their beautiful kitchen! There was a little bit of organizing going on, but not a lot. I asked for permission to start on one shelf, they said yes, and I got to work. I focused on the middle shelf and decided to designate it to spices, oils, canned and jarred goods. They had some organizing trays and shelves so I worked with what they had. I moved, adjusted, cleaned and set things up.
Here is what the shelf looked like when I was done. (From right to left. I was snapping with my Iphone because we were over their for dinner so please excuse the photo quality.)
I zoned by like items and purged anything that needed to say goodbye!
Once you get one shelf pretty and functional you just don’t want to stop! I left them with one shelf done and they did the rest. I encouraged working towards zones and using baskets and bins to combine like items together. Here are the final results of their hard work!
AFTER
An Organized Corner Pantry is all about a few simple tips:
1-Only keep items in the pantry that are things you use in the kitchen. Avoid using your pantry as a catch-all!
2-Zone like items together.
3-Use bins and baskets to combine like items.
4-Labeing is important. (So anyone can find what they need and also know where to put things away.)
5-Less IS more. Shop your pantry before grocery shopping to avoid duplicate items and items expiring.
*KISS – A corner pantry can be a very organized area with a little planning!
