Welcome to month number two of my home tour! Last month I took you into my Laundry Room and this time I’m showing you my our home office. I’ve got a comfy chair just for you!
This room is directly off of our main entry. We used the room initially as a sort of TV/Den/Guest Room. We had a twin bed set up with a computer armoire that was used as a TV for the kids. (Adjusting to overseas life has required us to be much more flexible with our TV viewing options. We continue to evolve and discover better options of how to watch some of our favorite programs from the States.) So after the first year of the room being used for these purposes we made a change. The kids are now down in our basement/Family Room on a spacious sectional (vs a twin bed) with a TV all set up for them.
It works perfectly. They take their noise downstairs and we now have an adult office space. Win win!
I’ll just let you scroll through the pictures and save the rest of my commentary for the end.
This is primarily my space because I do most of my work from home (blogging, consulting, prepping for classes). So this room serves as my storage place for all things organizing, training and scrapbooking related. I have brought all of the books into the space that are the ones currently am studying or referring to. (All things parenting, organizing, fitness and marriage.)
The corner chair is the spot where I get up early most mornings and I have my quiet time. I love how much better that starts my day. This room has been such a nice retreat for not only me (as a spot to work quietly) but also as a place for my hubby and I to connect during the mornings and/or evenings.
All of the furniture is from IKEA minus the small end table, and I’m not sure where we got that. Best guess would be Cost Plus or Target. 🙂
If I could do anything else to this room, I would just change the wall color. That would just be perfection if you ask me! But due to our length of time here, we’re not going to take on that kind of project, one that we would have to repaint over before we leave. So I accept the white walls and love the feeling that a tidy work space brings me.
Thanks for dropping by! I’ll show you another room next month!
