Welcome back to my Family Organization series! If you missed the first post in this series, you can find it over here.
With five of us in our home I am constantly looking for new ways to keep things moving along with as much efficiency as possible. (Despite the chaos that life seems to always bring!)
One of my recent wins here with Team Tyree is what we call “The Daily 5.” What I did was I thought through the common reminders that I tend to tell my kids every.single.day. The things that I feel I keep repeating every morning and afternoon. Then I took these top five priorities and typed them up as a “go to.”
My thought process, was that if I could refer to these responsibilities in a quick question and give them something to refer to, it would minimize the chance of hearing – “I didn’t know I needed to do that.”
The orange copy above is on our fridge along with our weekly menus for Breakfast and Lunch. But I didn’t stop there. I put a reminder of “The Daily 5” in each of their bedrooms as a way to keep their reminders in front of them. (Always trying to minimize any and all excuses!)
It is so much easier to ask my kids; “Are you caught up with your Daily 5?” It doesn’t work perfectly, but it has minimized the nagging I have to do. (More on how we incentivize later.)
KISS: To encourage responsibility, list and display your children’s daily responsibilities.
Now I’m off to do MY Daily 5!
Happy Family Organizing!!!
