So I haven’t yet touched on finances around here. Which is a little strange since I have been the financial manager of our household since day one. In our marriage I am not the “free spirit.” I’m the girl who likes to print out spread sheets and keep the checkbook balanced. So it was only natural that I would handle the finances and my hubby could pick up my slack in other areas such as make-believe play, coloring, Sunday morning pancakes, wrestling….
We do live by a budget and we try to have an intentional plan each month. For example, my hubby and I each have a monthly cash allowance for lunches and misc. items. And our kids each have their own monthly budgets that they manage. I believe that when you look at areas to better organize in your life, finances should be towards the top of your list. Finances affect most areas of your life and the more organized and intentional the better!
But I also believe that not everybody finds the excitement I do in spreadsheets and budgets. Therefore, I’m excited to share a great e-book that I recently read. It is titled “How to Budget without Spreadsheets or Software.” Todd’s book is an easy read that can really help you to look at budgeting and money management from a new perspective. It is especially helpful for those of us that are less inclined to want to use spreadsheets or software. Hey hubby are you listening?
You can find Todd’s book here on amazon and I can attest that it will help you to think of your finances in a new way. I have taken several tips away that I plan to implement now that I am setting up our new financial plan for the year. First off, will be to set up some more accounts to better automatically save more money each month.
Tell me in the comments, are you a spreadsheet lover like me or do you fall more into the category of free spirit?
Thank you, Todd for sharing your book with me and for letting me share it with my readers. It is a great resource!
Here’s to more financial organization in the New Year!
