We’re going to talk a bit about kitchen organization, specially fridges and freezers today. Rather than showing you drawer by drawer or shelf by shelf I am just going to share my top tips for how to keep these spaces highly functioning.
#1-Clean & Purge Often
Purge every time you come home from the grocery store. Take out the old and replace with the new. Grab a rag and wipe down a few shelves. If you make this part of your weekly routine you won’t have such a giant project when you decide to deep clean the appliance(s). Which is a chore I so look forward to doing. Said no one ever.
#2-Create Zones
Zones work great in the fridge and freezer. They will help you to classify like items together and make it easier to inventory when you are writing your grocery list. For example I have one freezer drawer that is dedicated to all things frozen, that is fruit or veggie. So, when I need to make a smoothie or need a veggie for dinner I know right where to look!
#3-Check Expiration Dates
This might seem like a big duh! But seriously, I just threw away two bags of salad that had expired. What a waste of money, space, and time. When you are shopping be very careful with what and how much you purchase, specifically of perishable items. Many of which get stored in your fridge or freezer.
