I love having a pantry! A pantry can be a true life saver with all the food storage one has to manage with a family. But, unfortunately, my new pantry presented me with the challenge of super deep shelving.
Come see how I conquered this challenge without spending any money!
Before
I had just thrown some of our food in and was waiting on all of our “stuff” to arrive. I quickly learned with this start of a set up that I didn’t want to put anything important in the back row. If I had to reach for something it would force me to do a dancer pose to actually reach the item, risking a slippery fall on my slick white tile. This is a prime example of deep shelving gone wrong!
It was time to roll up my sleeves and tackle this pantry once and for all…here is the play by play. I had this set of drawers in our old Master Closet.
I grabbed one of them and it fit perfectly in the bottom section. The small space on the left side was a great spot for Protein Shake containers and the Kitchen Aid.
The drawers worked great for holding larger items like water bottles. Check out my water bottle solution over here. I used the top smaller drawer for all of my towels and mopping covers. The bottom two drawers keep extra baking and food supplies.
I had these wire baskets from my old pantry…and boom, they fit side by side three in a row and could be used double parked too. Hooray!
I organized things so that items I use less often are placed in the back. I can pull out the first basket to completely access the rear basket.
I had to re-work a few of the tags, by just flipping it around and writing on the back, shhh…
I still used two of the red bins for bulkier items, and things I don’t need to get to as much.
After
And a place to hang my aprons and sack holder.
My goal was to use what I had and not to buy anything.
Goal Met!
