How many of you know how to sew out there? I’m curious…leave me a comment and let me know!I am in busy bee mode around here.
The deadline (that I have inflicted on myself) is approaching to get all of the sewing projects done around here!I am taking the one room at a time approach. So far it is working, and my hope is that by the end of this week I will have all of my curtains done. I love having an incentive, like company coming to visit! I shared about B’s curtains over here, and C’s curtains are also done, they only needed a quick hem. So, today will be all about A’s room…which also meant a little more DIY. Her curtains were super long, so I got to work hemming them. Then, because I had these two bulletin boards that needed a major face lift, I took the extra fabric and went to town!
Each of my kids have a spot in their room where they display all of their current memories. Things such as Birthday cards, pictures, certificates…then all of their older memories are put in their memory boxes. These were regular old cork board bulletin boards that I got from Target. I had spray painted them silver, and then this hot pink. I tend to change my mind a lot about simple things, big things not so much. Anyhow, I never really liked how they looked, so enter in the perfect solution…
The curtains above were the ones that needed to be hemmed, and below is the extra fabric I had to work with. {This is just from one curtain panel.}
Along with a few tools…
The one extra piece was enough to cover both boards. I trimmed off the bulky hem and began stapling. I didn’t measure, I just cut enough trim off that would be able to wrap around the edges.
If you haven’t used a staple gun before you totally should try using one. It brings out your inner tough girl for sure! Sort of makes me want a tool belt too. I worked one side at a time, stretching as I went, to make sure it would have a nice tight covering.
The corners were a little tricky, I just nipped and tucked, just trying to get the face nice and tight!
It was sort of a trial and error method (my motto every time)…and it worked great.
A little before and after for ya….
Now what to do with the other left over piece of fabric…oh I’ve got a plan!
