I keep being reminded of the importance of slowing down.
Taking more time to make decisions.
When I am approached with requests, I have learned to buy myself some more time, rather than answering on the spot. This is something that with my personality (or Shape Style) I really need to do.
I am a committed type of person. So, if I say I will do something I usually do everything in my power to follow through. The problem is, sometimes I become resentful and frustrated about an obligation I have agreed to. (I might have been feeling this last week when I was walking a homemade crab dip into the school at nine in the morning.)
When someone calls me on the phone with a request – one that I am not really sure how to answer – I try and say – “Can I think about this and get back to you?”
By taking the time to “process” and weigh the pros and cons of any decision, I am usually better able to answer what will be best for me and my family. Being put on the spot, usually ends up with a quick decision that may not be the best decision for myself and/or my family.
*KISS – Take time to answer any question or request.
Do you have a hard time saying no? When you say yes do you mean yes? Are you stressed with too many obligations?
