There are trophies, camp t-shirts, art projects, blankies, birthday cards, stuffed animals,
favorite toys…..the list goes on and on.
So, what do you keep for your child(ren) as a memory and what do you part with?
Each child is wired differently and it will help you to consider their Shape Style as you dive into this process. Some are born tossers and some are born hangers!
My simple solution – was to create Stuff “Memory Boxes” for each of my kiddos. A place for them to toss in the things they want to save, like their favorite blankie or camp t-shirt. I used a Sterilite Brand storage box – 28 quart, they work perfectly to slide right underneath the bed.
Managing Memories – Kids’ Stuff
1-Create a Memory Box.
This is where you place anything that your child wants to keep long term for a memory. Help your child decide what to save and how to choose wisely. Anything non-paper, paper items go in their File {Memory Box}.
2-When adding to your Memory Box, also do a purge.
Sometimes things that were favorites or memories at the time, simply no longer are. Capitalize on this as much as possible. Only keep the very favorites!
3-Try to keep the Memory Box to only ONE.
The size I showed above may not be enough for your child. I am not sure it will be enough for mine, but if I need to, one day I will upgrade to a larger size, within reason of course!
Happy Organizing!!!
